Jeg tror
denne ferske filmen er ment som The Kennel Clubs svar på den
oppsiktsvekkende BBC dokumentaren; Pedigree Dogs Exposed. I introen
snakker klubbformann Steve Dean om klubbens ‘ethos’. Ethosen er
tilsynelatende at klubben skal jobbe for å eliminere arvelige sykdommer i
alle renrasede- og også blandingsrasede (!) hunder. Det nye
datasystemet ”Mate Select" introduseres også. Systemet skal forikre økt
genmateriale og forhindre innavl. Utstillinger i sin nåværende form
diskuteres også. Bidrar de til hunders helseproblemer? Er funksjon
viktigere enn form? Bør overdrivelser belønnes? Se selv hva den
ærverdige kennelklubben mener!
I
think this recent film is meant to be The Kennel Club's response to the
remarkable BBC documentary; Pedigree Dogs Exposed. In the intro the
club chairman Steve Dean talks about the club 'ethos'. The ethos is that
the club will work to eliminate hereditary diseases in all pure-bred,
as well as cross-bred(!) dogs, it seems. A new computer system "Mate
Select" is also introduced. This system is to improve
a breed´s gene pool and prevent inbreeding. Dog shows in its current
form is also discussed. Do they contributes to dogs' health problems? Is
function more important than form? Should exaggerations be rewarded?
See for yourself what the venerable Kennel Club thinks!
